Accounts and Password Issues

1) Why do I need a CometMarks account?

CometMarks account is for you to manage your own bookmarks. With it, you will meet your following needs:

  1. I use many operation systems or computers and I want to have the same bookmarks everywhere!
  2. At business or at home, from all over the world and anytime I would like to have access to my own Bookmarks!
  3. Never again lose your Bookmarks when you buy a new computer or install a new operating system.

2) Does my Comet Passport work at cometmarks.com?

Yes! Comet Passport is an account system that can be used in the BitComet Software and all websites under it. With Comet Passport, not only can you get a better downloading speed, but also sign in all supported websites without registration again. And registration is easy and free. 3) If I want to delete my CometMarks account, what should I do?

Sorry that your Comet Passport can not be deleted. If you want to delete your account because you're experiencing some error and you want to do a “reset” so you can start over fresh, deleting your account is very unlikely to help. Please try searching for help here or send us an email first and we'll do our best to help. Or if you want to change your username, please follow the register steps to create a new account and discard the old one.

4) I was unable to logging my account. What should I do?

Please make sure you entered a correct username and password. If you've forgotten your password, follow these steps: Go to http://www.cometmarks.com/ and click the link that says My CometMarks. Click on the link that says “Forgot your password?” Follow the instruction provided to change your password.

5) The link you sent me when I forget my password didn't work. Why not?

If you've forgotten your username and/or password and used the form we provide to have us send you a temporary link to change your password, you should note that that link expires 24 hours after we send it to you. If you allow more than one day to elapse before using the link, you'll find that clicking on it fails to automatically log you in. Request another temporary link, and use the link provided within one day to access your account.

6) How to change my password?

You can reset your password from www.cometid.com , an email will be sent to your registered mailbox (the email address will be shown on the screen), then you can reset your password and retrieve your username by following the instructions. Please note, if you don’t receive the password replacement email, please check your junk mail box, sometimes mailboxes mistakenly categorise emails from unknown senders. And please note that you can only change your password once a day.


Installation Issues

1) What's the system requirement to install CometMarks?

You can download CometMarks if you are running the Microsoft Windows operating system using one of the popular browsers like cometbird, firefox, or IE. CometMarks is compatible to this Browsers and it will be workable for many other popular browsers in future.

2) Is CometMarks free to download?

Definitely Yes! CometMarks is a new, innovative, professional and free bookmark synchronizer. A Extension synchronize your bookmarks between browser and internet with a simple click. Feel free to download and make it serve for you!

3) How to install CometMarks and make it work?

4) How to uninstall Cometmarks from my PC?

To remove CometMarks from your computer, please follow the instruction at Uninstalling CometMarks.

5) Why can't I uninstall CometMarks by the IE add-ons manager?

By clicking Manage Add-ons in IE toolbar, you can only disable the CometMarks options in the Add-ons drop-down menu. You can only remove CometMarks in the Control panel, for more details, please read Uninstall CometMarks for IE.

6) Do I need to reinstall CometMarks when there is a upgraded version?

No. When there is some update on the plug-in, you will be given a notice. Just follow the instructions you can get the lastest version installed on your computer.


Bookmarks management issues

1) How to edit my bookmarks folder?

  1. select the folder or bookmark you want to edit
  2. Click Edit in the navigation and a edit form will appear.
  3. You will find “Save Bookmarks” in the navigation changes to red color. Click it and your changes will be saved.

Note: You have to select a subject at first or the edit button will not work. Please remember to click “Save Bookmarks” after you finish your edit action.

2) The delete button does not work when I click it, what's the problem?

It's the similar question with the previous one. Please select the target you want to delete and it will work. Still the same. click “Save Bookmarks” before your action complete.

3) Help!I delete one file out of careless. What can I restore it?

If you select a bookmarks folder and click delete carelessly. Please do not worry, as long as you do not click “Save Bookmarks” button, you can get your deleted folders again. Refresh the browser and your bookmarks folders will return to the previous one.

4) How to search a bookmark I collected in the bookmarks file?

  • Display the Bookmarks sidebar by clicking on the View menu, selecting Sidebar, and then selecting Bookmarks. Enter the keywords you want to search in the search bar. Or
  • Display the Library window by clicking on the Bookmarks menu and selecting Organize Bookmarks…. The Library window will appear. Enter the site name or description in the search bar to find your target bookmark.

Synchronization issues

1) I make changes in “My CometMarks”, but they were not synchronized to my other computer. What's the problem?

Please make sure that you have CometMarks as a working status at your another computer. If you disable or did not login your CometMarks account, the synchronization will not appear in your computer. -

  1. Check whether the icon is in bright color. If not, click the icon and login your account and the synchronization will start.
  2. Tools/Add-ons/CometMarks Bookmarks Synchronizer, check whether the status is disabled, if yes, click enable to make it begin to work.
